Hope for Zimbabwe Children (HFZC) is dedicated to protecting the rights of vulnerable populations, especially women and children who are victims of violence, abuse, and exploitation. Our mission focuses on ensuring safety, justice, and empowerment for those affected by domestic violence, trafficking, and other forms of abuse.

Our Efforts to Combat Violence and Abuse

1. Supporting Victims of Domestic Violence

Counseling and Justice: HFZC provides comprehensive support to victims of domestic violence, helping them seek justice against perpetrators through legal assistance and advocating for their rights. We offer counseling services to help victims recover from trauma and rebuild their lives, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing.

Impact of Our Work: Over the years, our efforts have contributed to a significant reduction in violence against women and girls in the communities we serve. By addressing the root causes of violence and providing support to victims, we have empowered many to break free from cycles of abuse.

2. Ending Child Abuse and Exploitation

Rescue and Protection: At the core of our mission is the protection of children from all forms of abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and violence. HFZC actively rescues abused children and those at risk of trafficking, often collaborating with law enforcement agencies to ensure their safety and well-being.

Campaigns against Abuse: Our campaigns, such as the “Stop Zimbabwe Drug Traffickers” campaign, aim to combat drug trafficking and its associated violence, particularly against young girls who are often sexually abused in drug dens. These initiatives raise awareness and call for action from authorities to protect vulnerable children and hold traffickers accountable.

3. Advocacy and Institutional Reform

Advocacy for Justice and Accountability: HFZC advocates for the rule of law, transparency, and accountability at all levels of government. We have petitioned senior police officers and the President of Zimbabwe to address issues of corruption and bribery within the police force, which allow drug traffickers and other criminals to evade justice.

Building Effective Institutions: By promoting responsive, inclusive, participatory, and representative decision-making, HFZC works towards developing effective institutions that can prevent violence, combat crime, and ensure equal access to justice for all. Our advocacy efforts also focus on strengthening national institutions to better prevent violence and address organized crime through international cooperation.

4. Promoting Legal Identity and Child Protection

Birth Registration and Legal Identity: HFZC assists unregistered children, including those who are victims of abandonment or baby dumping, in obtaining legal identity and birth registration. This is crucial for their protection and access to essential services and rights.

Child Protection Policy: Our Child Protection Policy underscores our commitment to safeguarding children’s rights and well-being. All staff members and partners are trained to prevent, identify, report, and respond to cases of child abuse, ensuring a protective environment for all children under our care.

5. Partnerships for Human Rights and Governance

Collaboration with ZIFFE: HFZC collaborates with organizations like the Zimbabwe Institute For Free Expression (ZIFFE) to promote human rights, enhance public access to information, and advocate for non-discriminatory laws and policies. Together, we work towards broadening Zimbabwe’s participation in global governance institutions and strengthening the country’s commitment to fundamental freedoms.
