Our Vision

CHILDREN

Hope for Zimbabwe Children (HFZC) envisions a future where every child, particularly girls, enjoys dignity, freedom from discrimination, and the opportunity to thrive. Our core mission revolves around child development and protection, with a strong emphasis on fostering an equitable and sustainable environment for all children in Zimbabwe, from birth to seventeen years. We are dedicated to inspiring, protecting, and supporting vulnerable children, especially those at risk of abuse and neglect. By offering emotional and practical support, we work towards transforming how children are treated in Zimbabwe, aiming for both immediate and long-term improvements in their lives. Our collaboration extends to families in impoverished communities, aligning our efforts with other organizations, activists, and social movements that share our commitment to children’s rights.

Our focus encompasses providing essential services such as shelter, quality education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation, all aimed at creating safe, secure, and happy childhoods. Central to our mission is the empowerment of the girl child, ensuring their needs are prioritized and their voices heard in all spheres of society. By fostering an environment where girls are protected and encouraged to engage in social, economic, and political activities, we seek to build their confidence and resilience, laying the groundwork for a brighter future for all children in Zimbabwe. Through our unwavering commitment, we strive to place every child at the heart of our efforts, championing their rights and well-being.

YOUTH

The vision of Hope for Zimbabwe Children is rooted in the commitment to empower the most vulnerable groups—children, youths, and adults—through comprehensive and well-managed humanitarian assistance programs. By focusing on areas such as food provision, employment opportunities, shelter, sanitation, healthcare, education, economic development, and disaster preparedness, the organization aims to uplift individuals and communities while promoting gender equality and human dignity.

Recognizing the myriad challenges faced by youths in Zimbabwe—such as drug abuse, high unemployment, poverty, and limited access to healthcare and education—Hope for Zimbabwe Children seeks to address these issues head-on. Since the inception of the Hope for Zimbabwe Youths (HFZY) initiative in 2010, the organization has implemented various empowerment initiatives. These include professional development, technology training, drug abuse awareness campaigns, and supportive programs emphasizing wellness, social skills, and creative arts.

The primary goal of HFZY is to foster youth leadership, entrepreneurship, and involvement in decision-making processes. By creating platforms for civic engagement, youths are encouraged to tackle pressing societal issues like climate change, land degradation, and domestic violence. Central to these efforts is the Hope for Zimbabwe Children Academy (HFZCA), which serves as a nurturing environment for youths to develop their skills and competencies.

Through these initiatives, Hope for Zimbabwe Children envisions a future where informed and competent leaders emerge from the ranks of the youth, contributing to a society that prioritizes self-reliance, social responsibility, and overall well-being. By empowering young people and providing them with the tools they need to succeed, the organization aims to create a lasting positive impact in Zimbabwe and beyond.

ADULTS

It is crucial to empower women, especially in vulnerable communities, as a way to uplift entire families and societies. By focusing on human rights, physical and psychological well-being, and addressing issues like domestic violence and economic exploitation, our organization is making a significant impact. The integration of social safety nets (SSN) for children through the active involvement of youth and women is a powerful approach. Engaging them as active participants, not just passive recipients, enables them to take ownership of initiatives aimed at defending children’s human rights. This not only helps in reducing unemployment among these groups but also fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility.

Our empowerment projects, categorized into social, economic, educational, political, and psychological dimensions, provide a comprehensive approach to addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by women and youth. Supporting women and youth-led initiatives is particularly important, as these individuals understand the specific challenges of their communities and can effectively address them.

As we continue this work, we monitor and evaluate the outcomes of our initiatives regularly. This helps in adjusting strategies to maximize effectiveness and ensure that the empowerment efforts translate into meaningful change. Additionally, fostering partnerships with local businesses, government entities, and other NGOs amplifies our impact by creating broader support networks for the women and youth we serve. Overall, our commitment to promoting gender equality, eradicating discrimination, and supporting the rights and potential of women and children is vital for creating a more just and equitable society. Through these efforts, HFZC envisions a society where women are free from abuse and discrimination, empowered to contribute significantly to social, economic, and political spheres, thereby enhancing the overall wellbeing of children and communities. Thus at Hope for Zimbabwe Children (HFZC), our vision is to eliminate discrimination against women in education, skills development, and decision-making processes while promoting their active participation in leadership roles. We are dedicated to facilitating equal opportunities, particularly for vulnerable women, by championing human rights and ensuring their physical and psychological wellbeing.

Our commitment encompasses:

1. Advocacy against Discrimination: HFZC actively works to eradicate all forms of discrimination, including cultural and religious practices that negatively impact women’s health, contribute to early marriages, or perpetuate child labour.

 2. Empowerment Initiatives: Through targeted programs, we aim to enhance women’s rights and economic potential, providing resources that enable them to thrive and attain their full capabilities.

3. Social and Economic Support: We create social safety nets and economic empowerment opportunities for women and youth to combat unemployment and foster sustainable development within communities.

4. Community Engagement: Our initiatives involve women and youth as active participants and leaders in promoting child human rights, strengthening families, and elevating the status of women, particularly in deprived areas.

5. Awareness and Education: We focus on raising awareness about gender inequalities, domestic violence, and economic exploitation, striving to foster positive behavioural changes in society.
